Depressed?

Please accept help

November 16, 2011 (Wednesday)

”picThe words of an ABBA song caught my ear recently, and I started thinking about those words. Here is the first stanza:

"Chiquitita, tell me what's wrong?
You're enchained by your own sorrow
In your eyes there is no hope for tomorrow
How I hate to see you like this
There is no way you can deny it
I can see that you're oh so sad, so quiet.."

The song has such a bouncy, happy sound that one might miss the sad words. The person to whom the singer is talking is obviously sad and depressed.

Mental depression is a gigantic problem in our world today. When a person is afflicted by this malady, it is a very serious matter. It's not just "the blues." It's not the ordinary "downer" that comes in the wake of frustrating disappointment. We have experiences like these and we get over them. When the sadness deepens and the person is unable to shake it off, then the person needs help.

If you are seriously depressed or you know someone who is, then it may be time for professional help of some kind. Medication and/or counseling can be quite helpful, depending upon the individual situation. If there is a Chiquitita out there reading this, then please let somebody help you.
