The Day After

Through the Eyes of a Child

November 26, 2010 (Friday)

A Grandson's View of the Day After Thanksgiving

The Thanksgiving meal has come and gone
But leftovers fill the table
We ate all we could then sang a song
We'll eat more if we are able.

Yesterday morning was warm and still
But the afternoon was chilly
We made some cider and drank our fill
And tried not to act so silly.

We managed a prayer when we served the food,
Grandpa knows how to pray.
We're all trying to be real good
Grandma likes it that way.

I'll remember these days when I'm a man,
The turkey, the prayers and the games.
We'll do it again next year if we can,
I hope it will be just the same.
