Time for another word from Charles
FEBRUARY 1, 2008 (FRIDAY)
Not much going on with me this week, except for getting started at the church and getting moved in to the house they are graciously providing for me next door to the church.
I will still be without internet access until after installation next Wednesday. I'm not sure if I will be online immediately or later. But I will be back sooner or later.
It's been great getting reaquainted with the wonderfful folks here at Timbergrove Baptist Church. The services we have had since my return have been warm and wonderful. Brother Glen Ray, the pastor for the past one and one-half years, has done a great job. He's recovering now from hip surgery, but stays in contact and is a source of encouragement just as he was when he was the pastor.
I'm looking forward to getting settled down again and fellowshiping with the members of the church. The community is changing from single family residences to multi-family units, such as town houses and condominiums. We are close to downtown. When I was growing up here in Houston, I lived close to downtown. It was walking distance. I know that to be true, because I walked it several times, sometimes barefooted.
I confine my walking now to making the rounds in the nearby mall with my dear friend, Leroy Washburn. When I was pastor here the first time, we walked three times a week. We have set up that schedule again, and I'm enjoying it very much. The time flies by as we walk, visiting with each other.
Well, my spit-n-whittle meanderings are done. See you next time. Don't know for sure when that will be, but stay tuned.
