He Leads Us All
JANUARY 5, 2008 (SATURDAY)
When I began writing a blog, I had been interim pastor of the First Baptist Church of Rockport, Texas for eleven months. Tomorrow will be the last of the worship services I conduct as interim pastor. After that, our pastor, Scott Jones, will be in charge of all the services. May God speak through him, and use him in a great way as he leads the Rockport church in the days ahead.
I will now return to the Timbergrove Baptist church in Houston, Texas, to become their pastor again. I was the pastor there for two years, before returning to Rockport as interim. I’m looking forward to the fellowship of that congregation and to the opportunities of service to the Lord in that place. Brother Glenn Ray has been the pastor, but he has recently resigned. He did an outstanding work while there. God used him greatly.
An old song expresses my feelings and those of the Timbergrove members as we join hands and hearts again to serve the Lord:
Only to be what He wants me to be,
Ev'ry moment of ev'ry day;
Yielded completely to Jesus alone,
Ev'ry step of this pilgrim way:
CHORUS
Just to be clay in the Potter's hand,
Ready to do what His Word commands
Only to be what He wants me to be,
Ev'ry moment of ev'ry day.
Trusting my Saviour whatever betide.
Ev'ry moment of ev'ry day;
Knowing He's able and ready to guide,
Ev'ry step of this pilgrim way:
Living for Jesus, surrendered and true,
Ev'ry moment of ev'ry day;
Walking with only His pleasure in view
Ev'ry step of this pilgrim way.
