..an inspirational sight..

Vacation Bible School closing ceremonies were fabulous.

June 9, 2007 (Saturday) - Vacation Bible School 2007 ended last night at the special Family Fun Night. The closing ceremonies were fabulous. The children presented song after song with excitement, enthusiasm, joy, energy, and plenty of volume. It was absolutely great. A fitting climax to a week of action.

What can we say about the workers? From Gayle Rozacky and Margo Smith's brilliant and oustanding leadership to the tremendous teaching of the adult leaders, to the fabulous work by the teenagers, plus the magnificent support of all the others who performed so well in many different ways. The ratio of workers to kids was one worker for less than three children. An average of 70 workers were at the church each day.

Our church staff provided help and leadership as well. And, to top it off, Gains and Jonathan agreed to have their heads shaved if the mission offering reached its goal. The offering went beyond the goal. For good measure, Dick Butler's head was shaved and Barney Reed's beard as well. All for a good cause, as the offering was presented to representatives of the South Texas Children's Home.

Highest attendance for the week was 281 on Thursday. Forty-one precious people professed faith in Christ as Savior and Lord.

The church worship center was packed with children, workers, and family members on Friday night. It was quite an inspirational sight. Afterwards, lots of fun and food outside in the parking area.

What a privilege is mine to serve as Interim Pastor with such a vibrant congregation, led by talented, gifted, committed Christians. I will always be thankful for having had this opportunity at this stage of my life.
